A tornado watch is in effect through eastern North Carolina through 1 a.m. Friday. The National Weather Service says thunderstorms are currently moving through Central North Carolina, and have a history of producing tornadoes and wind damage.

The tornado watch is in effect for the Eastern North Carolina counties of Beaufort, Dare, Greene, Hyde, Martin, Pitt, Tyrrell and Washington.

As an additional note, the NWS says it is still expecting a squall line to move through later tonight, so residents should not let their guard down.
