
Warren Richard Ritchie, 72, of Ocracoke, died on Feb. 24, at his home.
He was the husband of Carol Davenport Ritchie.
Born Dec. 28, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he lived there until he moved to Ocracoke in 1982.
He was a son of the late Helen Banister Ritchie Sergio and Archibald Ritchie.
Warren loved to fish. He spent many days at the beach with Carol and their two dogs, Rip and Teddy.
He was also a creative carpenter with a sense of perfection. You could view his beautiful birdhouses hanging outside his Ocracoke home along with the numerous projects always going on.
In addition to his wife, Warren is survived by his children, Donna O’Neal of Virginia, Janet (Sissy) Gaskins and husband Keith of Ocracoke, Linda Santana and husband Michael of Tennessee, Karen Ritchie and husband Jorge Suazo-Dominguez of Ocracoke, Tommy Beach and wife Casey of South Carolina, and Martha O’Neal and husband Greg of Florida; grandchildren, Tyler Santana, Ayden Santana, William O’Neal, Brandon O’Neal, Kaylee Gaskins, Reese Gaskins, Jayden Suazo-Dominguez, Jordan Suazo-Dominguez, Kylie Suazo-Dominguez, Clara Beach, Sadie Beach, Cassidy O’Neal, Danica O’Neal, and Dexter O’Neal; and one great-grandchild.
He is also survived by two brothers George Ritchie and Archibald (Mike) Ritchie, both of Florida.
The family will hold a private service in June.
