The Ocracoke Tourism Development Authority will hold a virtual public meeting on its proposed 2020-2021 budget at 9 a.m. Friday, June 5.

The meeting will be broadcast live on the Hyde County Public Information Facebook page via live stream at https://www.facebook.com/HydeCountyNC/.
You don’t have to have a Facebook account to view. The meeting can also be viewed via Zoom (Meeting ID 876 9727 9491, Password 995218)

The TDA’s budget comes from a 2% allocation of the 5% occupancy tax levied on all lodging rentals. At least two thirds of the proceeds must be used to promote travel and tourism and the rest for tourism-related costs. The other 3% of the occupancy tax is managed by the Ocracoke Occupancy Tax Board and is disbursed to island nonprofits “for any legal purpose.” See related story here.
