The TDA’s budget comes from a 2% allocation of the 5% occupancy tax levied on all lodging rentals. At least two thirds of the proceeds must be used to promote travel and tourism and the rest for tourism-related costs. The other 3% of the occupancy tax is managed by the Ocracoke Occupancy Tax Board and is disbursed to island nonprofits “for any legal purpose.” See related story here.
A detail of the budget is below the notice followed by the agenda.
