The Ocracoke Coffee Company on Back Road will be closed Wednesday until further notice while two of its employees await COVID-19 test results.

The announcement was made at 6 p.m. today (Tuesday) on Facebook and owner Joelle LeBlanc in an interview confirmed that two of her staff were exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

She stressed the Coffee Company is being overly cautious because the current state and CDC health protocols do not require the shop to close because of exposure to the virus.

“But everyone’s nervous and we are closed until they get their results,” LeBlanc said. “As soon as they get the results (hopefully negative!) we can reopen.”

The two staffers are quarantining, and the rest of the staff will get tested tomorrow at the Ocracoke Health Center, she said.
