Shoaling in Bigfoot Slough is again causing cancellations of some of the Pamlico Sound ferry runs.
Today, the 11 a.m. run to Swan Quarter was canceled as was the 8 a.m. Cedar Island departure and some runs on June 23 were canceled.
“The channel there is starting to deteriorate,” said NCFerry Division Spokesman Tim Hass in an email today. “The northeast winds and rough seas didn’t help, either.”
The M/V Swan Quarter bent a prop the other day, he said, adding that it’s been repaired and is on its way back.
The Army Corps of Engineers is planning to survey the area on Friday.
“So we should know more after that,” Hass said. “For now, it’s day-to-day.”
