Lindsey Baugham Howard, 79, of Elizabeth City, died Thursday, June 24, at home.

Born March 16, 1942, in Wilmington, Delaware, he was a son of the late Lindsey Taft Howard and Elizabeth Gaskins Howard.

He was the widower of Ann Esham Howard.

Howard served his country honorably in the U. S. Air Force and was a general foreman for U.S. Coast Guard Civil Service.

He was a member of Mt. Herman United Methodist and Ocracoke United Methodist churches. He was a mason and a member of the V. F. W. in Edenton.

Howard is survived by a daughter, Gwendolyn Austin, wife of Wade Austin of Ocracoke; two sons, Lindsey Howard Jr. of Frederick, Maryland, and William King Howard of Ocracoke; a sister, Loraine Burrus of Hatteras; and six grandchildren, Christopher Howard, Andrew Howard, Sydney Austin, Colby Austin, Hayden Austin and Hatton Howard.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Albemarle Hospice, 1507 N. Road St., #2, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
