Hyde County Board of Commissioners special meeting, 8 a.m. in the Hyde County Government Center, Multi-Use Room, Swan Quarter, NC, and virtually via electronic telecommunications equipment. A Facebook Live video stream of the meeting will be available on the Hyde County Public Information Facebook page for those not able to attend in person. See agenda below.

Ocracoke Waterways Commission, 6:30 pm. Community Center. The meeting will address general updates regarding dredging from waterways partners and will be broadcast on the Hyde County Facebook page if attendees wish to join virtually.

Hyde 21st Century Community Learning Center Program will join the 23rd annual Lights On Afterschool celebration, a nationwide series of rallies for afterschool organized by the Afterschool Alliance, on Thursday, Oct. 20.

Friday, Oct. 21
Mobile mental health clinic, Community Center parking lot

Ocracoke School Halloween Carnival, Community Park. Costume parade, 2:30 pm; carnival games, 3-5:30 pm; cake walk, 4:30 pm; glow dance party, 6-8 pm.

Plein air artists show and sell their work from 4 to 7 pm at the house on Silver Lake Drive and Creek Road.

Hyde County Farm Days. Mattamuskeet High School gym, Swan Quarter. Starts 5 pm Friday.

Ocracoke School Beta Club “Spook House, A Psychological Horror Adventure,” in Ocracoke School (modular units), 5-8 pm. $5.

Saturday, Oct. 22
Celebration of life of Teresa O’Neal, 11 am followed by lunch catered by Fat Fellas, Community Center; and from 6 to 9 pm with the Ray McAllister Band.
