The North Carolina  Weather Forecast Office issued a warning Tuesday morning that a strong frontal system will impact eastern North Carolina from Thursday afternoon into Friday, bringing the potential of severe weather that includes scattered strong thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 40 mph.

This storm system is coinciding with a king tide, an especially high spring tide, which could contribute to flooding on the Outer Banks, including the still vulnerable NC12 at the north end of Ocracoke.

Overwash on NC12 when it occurs, is worst around high tide. High tide on Ocracoke on Thursday will be 10:23 am and 10:58 pm, Friday 11:13 am and 11:47 pm.
