The National Weather Service in Newport/Morehead City has reported that a cold front will approach the region on Thursday (Nov. 14) and bring eastern North Carolina between one and three inches of rainfall through Friday morning that may lead to minor localized flooding.
Ocean overwash will likely impact portions of NC 12 on Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands with minor beach erosion and dangerous surf.
Locally, moderate coastal flooding, both soundside and oceanside, with inundation 2 to 4 ft above ground level.
Northerly wind gusts 45-60 mph are expected along the Outer Banks.
