Ocracoke residents and visitors will see a drone flying overhead this week, starting Tuesday.

This drone are part of the Local Assistance for Stormwater Infrastructure Investments Program (LASII) funding to find solutions to stormwater issues within the village of Ocracoke. 

The engineering firm, WithersRavenel, will fly the drone in the locations marked on the map above to retrieve data necessary to complete the analysis.

grant of up to $400,000 in LASII funds from the American Rescue Plan Act administered by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, was awarded in July 2023 to Hyde County to develop a comprehensive Stormwater Master Plan and a capital improvement plan that will include conceptual design plans for three stormwater projects.

Hyde County and the Ocracoke Mosquito Control Board are collaborating on this project.
