The Hyde County Health Department will hold a full scale point of dispensing (POD) exercise on Jan. 5,  at Mattamuskeet Early College High School (MECHS) to practice the response to a mock scenario involving a biological agent.  Participants are asked to register by Dec. 31.

The health department’s role in this scenario will be to dispense medication to the public in response to the mock emergency, and they need additional participants to act as patients.  In a simple process, patient actors will go through the dispensing line, fill out forms and receive a medication bottle.

The first time actors go through the line they can use their real information. Each time thereafter, actors will be provided a card with information about the person they will be playing. Actors should go through the line two or three times.

Lunch will be provided to all participants after the exercise. Patient actors must register.

So that we can prepare for the event and for lunch that day, please fill out the simple patient registration form by clicking here, faxing the attached form to Melissa Sadler at 252-926-0021, or by calling Misty Gibbs at 252-542-0358.

Actors should arrive at MECHS at 10 a.m. on Jan. 5 and will be released at approximately 1 p.m.. Lunch is provided during that time period.

For questions, please contact Misty Gibbs at mgibbs@hydehealth.com, or call 252-542-0358.
