Caribbean steel drum classes for the Ocracoke community have been pushed back to March.

Scott Paulson of Island Time Steel Drums, in association with Ocracoke Alive, will offer five classes on March 17, 18, 21, 22 and 23, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Deepwater Theater on School Road.

Residents and visitors ages 13 and older are welcome to learn to play these instruments that Paulson says are easy to learn.

No musical experience or note reading ability is required, he said.  The steel pans have the notes written on them, making them easy to master.

Tuition for the five sessions is $75.  Space is limited and steel pan players are asked to register by March 1.

For information and to register, email Paulson at Islandtimesteel@hotmail.com, or call 802-234-6987.
