RALEIGH – The North Carolina Department of Transportation is offering a 50 percent discount on its NC Quick Pass, which are EZPass compatible transponders that provide drivers with expedited travel on tolled highways and bridges.

Travelers will pay just $10 with this winter promotion that runs today (Dec.1) through Tuesday, Jan. 31.

The Quick Pass provides a discounted toll when traveling on the Triangle Expressway in the Raleigh area.

These transponders also can be used on toll highways and bridges along the East Coast where the E-ZPass, Sun Pass and Peach Pass are accepted (see graphic below).

The transponders work at over 50 participating toll facilities, located in the following 18 states: North Carolina, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and West Virginia.

These passes and their tolls are paid through credit card drafts and can be purchased here. Then place the transponder on the inside of the windshield and they are ready to go.
