You bring the bait—raw chicken or fish parts work best. Limited to 12. Pre-registration required at the visitor center by 5pm the day before the program. (90 minutes)

Yes, they were here. Learn about Blackbeard and others. Meet at the benches by the Visitor Center. (30 minutes)
 Barrier Island Nature, 3 pm
Join a Ranger for a talk about the wild side of Ocracoke. Meet at the benches by the Visitor Center. (30 minutes)

Ocracoke after Dark, 8:30 pm
Explore the night sky with a ranger. Bring bug spray. Meet at the Ocracoke Day Use Area. (1 hour)

Tuesday:
Cast Netting, 8:30 am
Practice this early method of fishing still used today. Limited to 12 participants. Pre-registration required at the visitor center by 5 p.m. the day before the program. (90 minutes)

Learn about the island’s rich past. Meet at the benches by the Visitor Center. (30 minutes)

Wednesday:

Morning bird walk. Binoculars are available. Bring bug spray. Meet at the Hatteras Ferry Parking Lot on north end of island. (90 minutes)

Saturday
The base of the Ocracoke Lighthouse open for viewing from 9:30 am to noon. Visitors are encouraged to walk or bike to the lighthouse due to very limited parking.
