Geneva Mae Odom

Geneva May Odom, age 92, formerly of Ocracoke Island, entered into the presence and fullness of the Lord on December 6, 2024.

She was a devoted follower of Christ from a young age. She was a cherished and loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister to her family.

Born April 8, 1932, on Ocracoke Island, she was the third of eight children and first girl of the late John and Mattie Midgette.

She is reunited in Heaven with her brothers, Ellis (Pearl), Jesse, Johnny (Delva), Elmer, Carner, and little sister, Janet. In addition, son-in-law James C. Paul, daughter-in-law Joyce O’Neal and brother-in-law, Washie Spencer.

Geneva worked multiple jobs to support her family and retired at the age of 78 after completing 35 plus years of service at the Ocracoke Variety Store. She was a devoted member of the Ocracoke Assembly of God Church and was an elder member and Sunday School teacher for many years.

Those that remain to cherish her memory are her son Edward “Buddy” O’Neal Jr. and granddaughter Carmen, great grandson Ayden and great-granddaughter Olivia; daughter, Mary Anna Paul, grandson, James (Susan), great grandson, Zack and Jamie, and great granddaughter Arabella; granddaughter, Tina (Marc), granddaughters Samantha (Matthew), Madeine (Ty), Sophia, and great-grandson, Donovan and great-great-grandson Weston and John Paul, daughter, Jana Mcleod (Tim), grandson Chalmus (Jenny), great granddaughters Ashley, Cayleigh; great grandson Stephen and grandson Adam, son Darryl (Rene) and grandsons Dalton, Cason, Nic and Logan.

In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held.

Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home, Lenoir, is in charge of arrangements.
